FOUR PERSONS HELD – SEIZED 256 BAGS P.D.S. RICE & WHEAT
i.e. AROUND 120 QUINTALS
On 07.12.2015, on credible information Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone worked out on PDS Rice scam and conducted raids on godowns at kishan bhag and mangalhat and also intercepted the vehicles at bahadurpura and puranapool with the civil supplies officials and apprehended (4) Persons in (4) cases and seized (120) Quintals of PDS Rice & Wheat and 1 Four wheeler vehicle

Enquires revealed that the persons above indulging this scam by supplying the PDS rice to certain places like Zaheerabad, Bodhan of Nizamabad, Karnataka and Gujarat for gaining illegal profits through this scam.
The accused Omprakash is running a rationshop at Jhnsichowra, , Mangalhat, Hyderabad and procuring a ration directly from the beneficiaries at rupees at Rs.8 per KG and also and procuring the rice which is not taken by the beneficiaries and selling the same to the Rice agents per Rs.14/- per KG.
The accused munawar is procuring Rice from the different fair shops in old city and also some of the local kirana shop vendors for Rs.8-10 per KG and maintaining a godown at kishanbhag and with the help of Syed Feroz transporting same to district level agents for Rs.12-14 per KG on four wheeler vehicle.
Modus Operandi
The beneficiaries purchase the rice from dealers Rs.1 per KG in fair price shop and sell the same to local kirana shop vendors for about 8-10/- per KG. Kirana shop vendors in turn sell the rice to Rice agents for a profit of Rs.2 to 3/- Then these agents sell the same to district level agents for a profit of Rs.3/- Who later sell the same to Rice millers for same margin. Again, this rice will be polished and supplied to the general public for higher rates in market.
Sometimes Ration shop Dealers are directly purchasing the rice from the beneficiaries @Rs.8/- to 10/- per KG or procure the Rice by delaying the supply with tactics or some times they procure the rice which is not taken by the beneficiaries with several reasons and used to sell the same to the area brokers and rice millers @ Rs.12/- to Rs.14/- per kg.
Surveillance is being maintained against activities of ration shop dealers and brokers and identified some of the organizers to impose PD Act.

The above apprehensions and seizure were made under the supervision of Sri. B.Limba Reddy, Dy. Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad City by Sri. L.Raja Venkat Reddy, Inspector of Police, West Zone Task Force, Hyderabad and SIs S/Sri. D. Jalendar Reddy, P.Mallikarjun and M.venkateshwar Goud along with the staff.
