APPREHENSION OF PROFESSIONAL OFFENDERS COMMITTING THEFTS FROM SHARING AUTO PASSENGERS
The offenders MOHD FEROZ KHAN of Hyderabad and MOHD ASIF of Rajendra Nagar and native of Uttar Pradesh teamed up with MOHD IRSHAD, MOHD SALEEM, MOHD IKRAMUDDIN, MOHD SHAHID, JULFAKAR and AARYAN CHOWDARY @ FURKHAN all N/o. Uttar Pradesh and committed innumerous thefts from the passengers of sharing auto in Hyderabad City and Cyberabad limits since 2013. Mohd Feroz Khan, Mohd Irshad along with two other associates were arrested earlier by Chaderghat Police in 2013 for committing similar offence and sent to jail. The accused MOHD ASIF was also arrested in two cases of Dacoity in the year 2014 by Meerpet Police. His two brothers Julfakar and Aaryan Chowdary @ Furkhan are also associated in the present gang.
On 09-12-2015 Karkhana Police apprehended the offenders at Jubilee Bus Stand and Hasmathpet simultaneously. On interrogation they confessed to have committed (12) cases of which, (03) offences under the limits of Police Station Karkhana, (02) offences under the limits of Market, (02) offences under the limits of PS Gopalapuam, (01) offence under the limits of PS Chilkalguda, (02) offences under the limits of PS Saifabad, (01) offence under the limits of PS Dundigal and (01) offence under the limits of PS Jagadgirigutta. Details of other offences committed by them along with the absconding accused needs to be ascertained.
Modus Operandi of the offenders is:
The person having expertise in stealing the valuables from the luggage along with 2-3 gang members sit in the auto as passengers, after targeting a single or couple of victim passengers, they will make them share the auto and after moving ahead a bit, another 1 – 2 gang members board the auto and one of them sit on the lap on the gang member sitting in the middle and making the seating space congested and covering the view of the victim passenger from his luggage. Meanwhile, the person having expertise steal away the cash or gold ornaments from the luggage. Once the task is completed, they will signal the auto driver and the auto driver halts the vehicle on the pretext of mechanical break down or lack of fuel and make the victim passenger and other associates sitting in the vehicle as passengers get down and look for some other alternative. The auto driver leaves the place without any body’s notice and remaining associates joins the auto driver later.
Gold ornaments weighing about 40 tolas, net cash of Rs. 1,70,000/-, one auto rickshaw and eight cell phones were recovered from them. Efforts are in progress to apprehend the remaining associates of the arrested accused persons.
The accused persons were apprehended by Sri. M. Ravi, Detective Inspector, Karkhana with the assistance of Sri. M. Rama Mohan Reddy DSI Karkhana and crime staff of Karkhana Police Station under the supervision of Sri. Y. Nageshwara Rao, Inspector, Karkhana and guidance of Sri. V. Tirupathi, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Mahankali Division.
