PRESS NOTE (31-12-2015)
  1. Extremism: Extremism has been effectively controlled.

  • 4 districts in state are affected.
  • 96 extremists were arrested in 2015.
  • 100 extremists have surrendered.
  • 27 weapons were seized.
  • 13 exchanges of fire (2 Maoists killed).
  • (During EOF in Chinturu PS limits, DCM Sabari Area Committee, Kalma Chukka @ Nagesh, age 35 died. He was involved in more than 20 cases of extremist murders and violence).     
  • Maoists committed 24 offences including 4 murders (civilian) (21 in VSP & 3 in East Godavari).

  1. Stringent action has been taken to curb red sanders smuggling.

  • 2710 smugglers were arrested (AP: 1330, other states: 1367 and other countries: 13).
  • 40 inter-state smugglers were also arrested.
  • 11475 logs were seized.
  • 51 cases were booked under PD Act.
  • 480 Vehicles were seized.
  • Gangi Reddy a Notorious Red Sander smuggler was deported from Mauritius because of the efforts of AP Police within a record period of 8 months. He was arrested on his arrival and sent to Judicial remand.  

  1. Law and Order: Effective security arrangements were made for the following events:-
  • Foundation laying ceremony of new capital at Amaravati (22.10.15).
  • Floods in Nellore & Chittoor districts.
  • Godavari Pushkarams (14.07.2015 to 25.07.2015).
  1. CRIME:
Total cognizable crime decreased by 4.23%. Total 0.95 lakh Cognizable cases were reported as compared to 0.99 lakh cases in2014 (up to Nov).

  1. Bodily Offences
  • Murders and Murder for gain decreased by 5.04%.(999 cases were reported in 2015 as compared to 1052 in 2014 (up to Nov).
  • Kidnapping and abduction decreased by 15.73%.(648 cases were reported in 2015 as compared to 769 in 2014 (up to Nov).
  1. Property Offences
  • There is 8.45%decrease in dacoities and robberies.(401cases reported in 2015 as compared to 438 in 2014. (up to Nov).
  • There is a decrease of 7.75% in Burglaries/ Thefts in 2015.(16563 cases  were reported in 2015(up to Nov)as compared to 17954 in 2014(up to Nov)).
  1. Economic Offences
  • Economic offences increased by 40.95%. (148 cases reported in 2015 as compared to 105 cases reported in 2014.                      (up to Nov).
  • Total amount involved in economic offences in 2015 was Rs. 7505.72crores as compared to Rs. 398.35 crores in 2014.                        (up to Nov).
  1. Crime against Women
  • There is 7.53% decrease in crime against women with 11667 cases being reported in 2015 as compared to 12671 cases in 2014. (up to Nov).
  • There has been decline in dowry harassment by (13.80%), Dowry deaths by (18.65%), Murder(Women) by (8.67%), and Kidnapping & Abduction by (15.79%)(up to Nov 2015).
  • There is an increase in Dowry Murders by (3.08%), Abetment of suicides by (3.50 %) and Bigamy cases (17.86%) (up to Nov 2015).
  1. Cyber Crime
Under Cyber crime 636 cases were registered in 2015 (up to Nov.) as compared to 410 cases in 2014 (up to Nov).(55% Increase)
  1. Excellent work done by AP Police in Anti Human Trafficking (413Trafficked victims including 10 minors were rescued and 752 traffickers were attested).
  2. Important cases investigated by CID

  • Kollam Gangi Reddy,  involved in several red sanders cases and who fled to Dubai, Madagascar and Mauritius etc  was brought to India from Mauritius after a long drawn legal battle.

  • Number of Economic offences such as Agri Gold, Akshaya Gold, Abhaya Gold etc were investigated and efforts resulted in attachment of properties relating to various accused companies to a tune of about Rs 10000 Crore.

  • Cheating cases relating to Keshav reddy educational Institutions are under investigation.
  1. Road Accidents:
  • There is decrease of 5.87% in road accidents.
  • Increase in the number of fatalities though number of accidents have come down.   
  • 21126 cases were reported in 2015 (7439 persons killed and 27405 persons injured) as compared to 22444 cases in 2014 (7162 persons killed and 26031 persons injured).
  • Special drives were launched in coordination with Transport department to prevent road accidents.
  • Guntur, Chittoor and East Godavari are three top districts (for number of persons killed in road accidents).
  • Krishna, East Godavari and Visakhapatnam are three top districts (for road accidents).  
  1. Important Legislations Introduced:-
  • AP Money lenders Act Bill was passed by AP State Assembly to curb the exploitation by money lenders.
  • AP Protection of depositors and financial establishments Act, 2015 was passed to protect the interests of the depositors in AP.
  • Amendment to Forest act was also proposed to deal with Red Sanders Smuggling.

  1. Important cases under investigation in districts:
  1. Illegal lending/extortion cases:-
  • 422 cases were registered and 324 persons were arrested. All the cases are under investigation.
  1. Fake Pattedar pass book scam in Ananthapuramu.
  • 61 cases were registered and 62 mediators /fabricators /agents were arrested. Stringent action taken to prevent misuse of revenue documents.
  1. WELFARE:  Various welfare measures have been taken for the force.
  • Insurance premium for an amount of Rs.1,99,51,704/- was paid for the entire force.
  • Rs. 95,91,000/-  was paid for Group Personnel Accident Insurance.
  • Rs.1.50 crore was sanctioned to 12,126 children of police personnel (merit scholarships).
