Hyderabad City Police through various technology initiatives has been effective in handling all the Law & Order events, Crime prevention and effective management of Traffic. Whole year has been passed off peacefully without any untoward incidents.   







  • LAW AND ORDER: BANDOBUST


In the year 2015 Hyderabad City Police was continuously engaged in arranging bandobust for following occasions:


  • Telangana and AP Legislative Assembly/Council winter, budget and monsoon sessions.
  • Biennial Elections to the Telangana State Council of the States in respect of Graduate Constituencies to Hyderabad.
  • Call for boycott of Courts by the Advocates demanding a separate High Court for Telangana State.
  • TRS Plenary Meeting at L.B. Stadium and Parade Ground.
  • Swach Hyderabad Program.
  • First anniversary of the Telangana State Formation Day at Parade Ground, Sec’bad and Telangana State Formation Day celebration closing ceremony at Tankbund.
  • Visit of H.E the President of India to Hyderabad City and stay at R.P. Nilayam in the months of June / July and December.
  • Anniversary of Macca Masjid Bomb Blast bandobust.
  • Force deployed for Godavari Pushkarams from Hyderabad to various districts.
  • Independence Day Celebration at Golconda Fort.


Festivals like Sankranti, Bonalu, Ramzan, Ganesh, Dussera, Bathukamma celebration from LB Stadium to Tankbund, Bakarid, Observance of Moharram, and Deepavali.


Public meetings like MRPS conducted “Chalo Assembly” program, Advocates of Telangana State “Chalo Secretariat” program, IKP Animators conducted “Chalo Assembly”, TS GHMC Workers conducted “Chalo Assembly” program, Asha Workers affiliated to CITU (CPM) conducted “Chalo Hyderabad” Program.

RECRUITMENT:   


  • This year (130) Civil SIs completed their training and after completion of practical training they will join the city Police.


  • 650 Home Guard drivers were recruited and after completion of Training, the drivers were posted to the zones/units Govt. vehicles of Hyderabad City Police.


TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVES & ACHIEVEMENTS:
As a part of Telangana State Government's objective to make Hyderabad City as Global, Smart and Safe City, Hyderabad City Police has taken up various Technology initiatives in the Policing.


HAWK EYE - Hawkeye App - A one stop App for all Solutions, which was launched a year ago, empowering the Citizens to be a Police.


During the year as many as 1, 65,000 users have downloaded the App. An overwhelming response has been received from the Citizens appreciating the App and its features.

LOST REPORT:  To facilitate citizens to have their missing / lost certificates in a hassle free manner even without visiting Police Stations this App was launched during the year. With this App the citizens can apply for the Certificate through the App and the Certificate will be issued within 72 hours.

WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (DPR):  This web based applications was introduced last year to closely monitor activities of the force of Hyderabad City. During the current year a Mobile App was developed which enables the Police Personnel to enter the data through their mobile phones. Even the Casual Leaves are being applied and are being sanctioned online.
OFFICE AUTOMATION: The Head Office has been automated meet the need of the employees. The Transfers of employees have done online during the year. All the DO's (orders) and Memos are issued online. The Service Details of all the employees (16259) are uploaded online. Process of making the office Paperless is underway. All the papers received at the office are entered in an online system for better tracking.
ANALYSIS LAB:  The Analysis Lab is setup at the Commissionerate Level to assist the Investigating Officers in detection of various sensational and critical cases through technical assistance. Fruitful results have been achieved during the year through this lab.
VIDEO ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM:
The CCTV and Video Footages which had very minimum resolution were analyzed with the help of Video Enhancement System and in 134 cases which resulted in unravelling mysterious cases.


VIDEO CONFERENCE:
  • Video Conferencing solution has been an important milestone in transforming Hyderabad City Police into a Citizen Friendly Responsive Police Organization by involving every member of the force in implementation of the Government Vision.

  • Video Conference technology is provided by National Informatics Centre (NIC), Hyderabad


  • The Video conference facility is presently available for 145 locations which include Police Commissionerate, All Senior Officers, 60 Law & Order Police Stations, 17 Sub Divisions, 5 Zonal DCP offices and Traffic offices, Special Branch wing, Task Force, CAR, Home Guards, Securing Wing, Crime Branch and Training Institutes.


SOCIAL MEDIA LAB
A Social Media Lab is setup at the Commissionerate Office to monitor the Social Media Posts and Complaints on the Commissioners Facebook Page and Whatsapp of Hyderabad Commissionerate. All the Social Media complaints/Posts are monitored on 24/7 basis.
Following are the details of complaints received on Facebook pages;

A kidney racket busted during the year was through an input received on Commissioners Facebook page.
On “Whatsapp” 576 actionable posts were received during the year and were promptly attended to the best satisfaction of the citizens.
Twitter handle of Hyderabad Commissionerate is also being run.
CRIME MAPPING:  
This enables the Police Stations/Offices to have a glance of the three year crime and accident data pertaining to various heads basing on the geo location of Crime. This has been very useful in assessing the crime trends and reorganising the patrolling effectively.   
RECEPTION AND PETITION MANAGEMENT SERVICES:
To bring in transparency and process enabled reception system all the petitions have been mandated to be entered in the Petition Management System. During the current year till date 95,024 petitions were registered in the Petition Management System.
SMS SERVICES:   
The SMS system has been effectively being used in intimating the information to the citizens regarding the passport verification, traffic-e challan messages, community messages and also internal messages to enhance the people friendly policing.
MEE SEVA SERVICES MONITORING:
During the year 51,898 Mee-Seva complaints/services have been received and resolved.
CITIZEN SATISFACTION FEEDBACK SERVICES:
A third party Call Centre has been set up by the Commissionerate to assess the feedback. Feedbacks collected from the citizen who avail the Police Services such as visit to Police Stations on certain issues, passport verification, traffic challans are being assessed for making the Policing better and improvised. The feedback such obtained is being communicated to all the concerned wings.  Basing on the feed backs we are able to identify the gaps and steps are being taken to improve the services.
COMMUNITY CCTV PROJECT:


  • As a part of implementation of Public Safety Measures Enforcement Act, Hyderabad City Police has motivated the Communities to set up Surveillance Cameras covering their areas. Public have been responding well and during the years 3100 CCTV cameras were installed.
  • Electronic surveillance is kept over all the important procession routes for all festivals such as Hanuman Jayanthi, Sri Rama Navami, Bonalu, Ganesh Shoba Yatra & immersion, Milad-Un-Nabi etc., by monitoring from the Central Command and Control Centre at the Commissionerate.
COMMAND & CONTROL CENTRES AT POLICE STATIONS:


All the Police Stations have been setup with operational Command and Control Centres. All the CCTV Cameras which are existing in the PS limits are being connected to the PS CCC and Crime Mapping and Patrol Vehicle Tracking systems are being monitored from the Centre on 24X7 basis.


VEHICLE MOUNTED CAMERAS:


  • Vehicles mounted CCTV have also been introduced to keep a close watch and check on criminals committing offences and also to tackle any Law & Order issues in Hyderabad City.  The cameras have been connected with the Command Control through GPS, by which any police could reach the incident place in no time.
DIVISIONAL CLUES TEAMS:


  • Hyderabad City Police this year has added 17 Scientific Clues Teams @ one at each Division level covering three to four Police Station areas. Each CLUES Team comprises (3) Crime Scene Processing Officers, One Photographer, One Videographer & two drivers for the round the clock service and one branded new vehicle has been provided for rapid crime scene processing to assist Investigation Officers in securing vital clues to enhance the rate of conviction.
JAIL RELEASE MONITORING SYSTEM:


For effective surveillance over the criminals the data of jail release of all the criminals is being monitored.  
AADHAR BASED BIO-METRIC ATTENDANCE - To bring in Accountability and Transparency Aadhar based Bio-metric attendance is being implemented in all Police Stations and Offices of Hyderabad City.
SOFT SKILLS AND ROLE BASED TRAININGS:
  • To bring in People Friendly and Responsiveness among the Police Personnel regular trainings are being conducted in soft skills as well as in Professional Skills with the help of Professional Trainers. So far 8,100 Police Personnel have been trained.
  • Similarly role based trainings are also being conducted to bring in role clarity and professional efficiency.  So far trainings have been conducted to reception Officers and Patrol Officers.


ISSUE OF ROLE BASED JACKETS


To bring in better visibility and role clarity in the minds of citizens newly designed Jackets have been issued to Patrol Vehicles, Blue Colts, Interceptors and Clues Teams


UI CASES MELA – 46% reduction of UI cases.  For the past three years the City Police has been busy with the agitations leading to pendency of cases. With the introduction of UI Cases Mela it has enabled reduction of the long pending UI cases.  At the same time a stand procedure has been designed for ensuring the quality of Investigation.

SURVEY OF OFFENDERS


  • Integrated criminal verification of known offenders (Nerasthula Samagra Survey) was undertaken during the year. Physical verification of offenders in the given addresses was done to keep a watch over their activities and life style. As many as 7,563 offenders were verified at their addresses and of them 3,573 were available.
CARDON & SEARCH


Periodic Cordon & Search operations were undertaken with pre-defined objective to combat crime, arrest of wanted criminals, check on criminal activities and to create fear among anti-social elements


EYES & EARS PROGRAMME
A Community Partnership Program is being organised enlisting all the private security personnel serving with Local Communities as Partners in Policing to act as EYES AND EARS OF HYDERABAD CITY POLICE IN ENHANCING COMMUNITY SAFETY & SECURITY. All the Security Guards are being trained and empowered to identify threats and communicate to police


MARKET INTELLIGENCE WING:
This unit has been started during the year to prevent the gullible people from being cheated. Advance intelligence is being collected to prevent cyber offences. Regular print media advertisements, mobile SMSs are being monitored to curb the cyber offences nip in bud. 26 cases were registered by Market Intelligence Wing during the year.
SHE TEAMS:


SHE teams were launched on 24th October, 2014, with the sole aim and objective of curbing eve teasing/street harassment and providing safety and security to women. Within a short span of time this has produced good results. The success of SHE Teams has enabled the Government to extend it to Cyberabad and other districts of Telangana.


CASES BOOKED SO FAR:


  • Total 1111 complaints were received.
  • 14 Nirbhaya Act cases, 14 IPC cases and 146 petty cases were booked.
  • Total 345 persons were caught (Minors-142, Majors-203).
  • 26 persons were jailed, 120 persons were fined, 76 persons were warned and let off.


COUNSELLING SESSIONS AND OTHER INITIATIONS CONDUCTED TO CURB EVE TEASING:


  • 4 professional counseling sessions were conducted in the presence of their parents in order to guide them for the career and mould their behavior in a proper way to become good citizens. Services of 6 member panel of professional psychologists and NGO called Youngistan India were roped in for this.


  • CLAPP (Community Led Action Programme by Police) in coordination with PCVC an international organization and American Consulate was launched at St Mary’s College, Yousufguda.


  • One day work shop was conducted on “Crime Against Women and Security of Women” at White palace function hall, Chandrayanagutta, which was attended by several officers of Hyderabad City. More than 3000 students participated in the meeting and interacted with the Officers.


PEOPLE’S RESPONSE AND PARTICIPATION:


  • Dial 100 and social media was effectively used by the victims to approach the She teams and get their problems resolved with the help of the She teams within less time and at the same time keeping their details confidential.
  • This is encouraging for women to make use of she teams with their problems freely and confidently.
CAR HEAD QUARTERS:


  • Conducted 2 week Annual Mobilization training for 1162 CAR Personnel.
  • Conducted De-addiction Classes for those addicted to liquor and other intoxicants.
  • Conducted Pre Commando Course training to (57) City Security Guards personnel.
  • Conducted Weapons and Tactics crash course for (330) CAR Personnel.
  • Organized Blood Donation Camp wherein 58 officers of all ranks and men participated.


CITY TRAINING CENTRE (CTC)- HYDERABAD:


  • As a part of Citizen Friendly Policing, in-house “Role Plays” to educate the Police Personnel on dealing with the victims / complainants / petitioners were organized at Police Stations.
  • Conducted 2 days Orientation Course to Officers from Constabulary to SI Rank (4721 Civil, 1650 CAR & 773 CSW) on the concept of “People Friendly Policing” and bring awareness among the society in preventing Crime through “Community Policing”.
  • Participated in Swach Hyderabad campaign, involving entire staff in cleaning and spreading awareness in different sections of the society.
  • Organized “Telangana Haritha Haram” program wherein 60 saplings were planted in and around the training premises.
  • Conducted 6 Day Refresher Course on “Basic Investigation skills, Petition Enquiry and Weapon Training” for 1300 Civil Police Personnel (Men & Women) every week from Constabulary to Inspector Rank.


CITY SECURITY WING:


This year CSW staff attended (04) hoax calls, (22710) anti sabotage check and (1221) access control duties for security of arrangements of VVIP/VIPs.


SPECIAL BRANCH



VERIFICATION OF PASSPORT APPLICANTS:


Online verification through iPads. During the year as many as 1, 12, 935 applications have been received and were cleared off using the iPads. The verification process is being completed within a span of 5-6 days which is best in the country.


An innovative concept of “Messaging System” has been introduced by the Special Branch of Hyderabad City Police wherein Pre and Post Verification SMS alerts are being sent to the passport applicants to update the status of their verification.


CITIZENS’ SATISFACTION IN PASSPORT VERIFICATION


With the feedback mechanism, it is evident, satisfaction level among the applicants gone up. There is a remarkable change in the behavior of police personnel at a time of verification.

(263) Anti-social elements and rowdy sheeters were detained at Chanchalguda Jail under  Prevention of Dangerous Activities (Goondas, Land Grabbers, Boot Leggers) Act 1 of 1986.

DE-RADICALIZATION:


17 youngsters who were found to be self-motivated towards ISIS activities through social networks were counseled at Special Branch, Hyderabad with the assistance of CI Cell in the presence of their parents.


CCS, DETECTIVE DEPARTMENT, HYDERABAD:


  • Automobile Team, CCS, DD recovered 18 four wheeler vehicles W/Rs.1.45 Crore.   
  • 226 cases of white collar offences were reported.  114 accused were arrested during the year.  


JOB FRAUD CASES:


  • During the year 27 accused persons were arrested who have made false promises and collected amounts luring the unemployed youth to provide government employment in departments like AP, Telangana Secretarites, Railway and Income tax, etc.
Following are the important gangs which have been arrested during the year:


H.B (Day) Gang (Uttar Pradesh):


  • Special Team-I apprehended inter-state notorious house breaking (by day) gang belonging to Dhampur, Bijnor District, Uttar Pradesh and recovered gold ornaments weighing about 2 Kgs of PS Narayanguda and  PS Sultan Bazar cases.


H.B by Night gang (Manger Basthi):
  • Four accused persons belonging to Mangar basthi of Hyderabad city were arrested and seized (25) Gas Cylinders, Electronic items and other house hold articles from them.
Fake Inidan Currency gang:


  • Apprehended the accused persons A-3 Palthia Subash, and A-4 Rathod Sardar, r/o Dosapalli Pedda Thanda, Dosapalli (V), Regod Mandal, Andhol, Medak Dist. who were getting fake Indian currency notes from Kolkata and exchanging at their native place.  Seized Indian Currency Rs.1.60 lakhs, Fake Indian currency notes of Rs.1000 x 3, 500 x 2 and Mobile phones from them.
Cheating:


  • Apprehended the accused persons A-1 Syed Viquaruddin @ Akheel, S/o late Syed Azizuddin, age: 42 years, occ: real estate broker, r/o H.No.4-25-45/9/2, Suleman Nagar, near Pillar No.234, Rajendranagar, RR Dist. and A2 Jellela Narayana, S/o J. Durgaiah, aged about 40 years, occ: business, r/o 1-1-201/73, Allauddin Building, Begumpet, Hyderabad who induced the complainant and took Rs.46 lakhs from him.


Ed. CET scams:


  • Apprehended 6 accused persons who were involved in Cheating and impersonation to get admission into B.Ed in O.U Campus case.


Automobile Gang:


Apprehended a six members organized Inter-state four wheelers gang and recovered (13) four wheelers out of (35) of various models from their possession.


COMMISSINER’S TASK FORCE


During this year Commissioner Task Force detected (1303) cases in different heads/MO pertains to various Police Stations of Hyderabad City and arrested (1916) persons.


REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENTS:


  • East Zone Team apprehended a Diverting Attention gang namely (1) Amjad Akbar Ali Baig @ Amjad, (2) Dadu Azgar Ali Baig @ Dadu, (3) Fayyaz Ansari @ Paploo all natives of Karnataka state, who have committed 13-cases of Pseudo Police, 02-Cases of Diverting Attention and 05-Cases of Chain Snatchings (Total 20 cases) in Hyderabad City and recovered Gold chains whg. about 85 Tulas, from their possession.


  • East Zone Team apprehended one most wanted & Notorious Snatcher by name Babar @ Baquar Akram Ali @ Baquar who committed (102) cases of Chain snatchings in Hyderabad, Cyberabad Commissionerates and Medak District areas and recovered gold ornaments weighing of 3.46 Kgs Gold Ornaments.
  • East Zone Team, Hyderabad City, apprehended two most wanted & Notorious Snatchers namely viz., 1) Habeeb Abbas @ Shaikh Faizan @ Faizan Hussain shaikh @ Abbas and 2) Habeeb Hassan @ Shadan Hussain Shaikh who committed (25) cases of Chain snatchings in Hyderabad City and recovered gold ornaments wg. about 800 Grams and one Honda Shine Bike from their possession.  Earlier both were involved in more than 200 cases of Snatchings and House Burglaries.


  • East & South Zone apprehended two Interstate snatching gangs namely 1) Mohd Rasheed Khan, 2) Mohd Sayeed Ali @ Shaik Sayeed Ali, 3) Shaik Arshad Ali, 4) Afroz Khan & 5) Mir Ayan Ali and 6) Syed Ahmed Ali who committed (30) Chain snatchings in the limits of Hyderabad & Cyberabad Commissionerates and Medak District, and recovered about 1 KG gold ornaments & Three Bikes from their possession.


ZONES (LAW & ORDER)


  • CENTRAL ZONE:


  • Lake Police saved as many as 205 lives who attempted to commit suicide and counseled them which yielded good results.


  • Mega Health camps were organized, conducted cordon and search, meetings were conducted with the colony people and business men to create awareness among them on importance of installation of CCTV cameras for safe colony / market concepts as a result (1935) CC cameras were installed in Central Zone.


  • Conducted Operation Muskan and rescued (72) boys and (11) girls and handed over to their parents.


  • NORTH ZONE:


  • During the year 2015 North Zone area remained peaceful and all the major Festivals and Bandobusts went off peacefully.  


  • (728) community CCTV cameras have been installed at various places of North Zone.  


  • Conducted Operation Muskan and rescued (84) boys and (11) girls and handed over to their parents.  


  • WEST ZONE:


  • The West Zone Police participated in Swachh Bharath, Swachh Telangana & Swachh Hyderabad programmes.  


  • Conducted number of awareness programme on women safety and security as a part of ‘friendly policing’ at all police stations.


  • Conducting Community Policing programmes for the youth in a phased manner and educating them for good livelihood and in getting employment with an intention to keep them away from antisocial elements and their activities by improving their skill which yielded good results and getting good response, particularly from Manghalhat area.  


  • Conducted raids on illegal financiers, cordon and search for verification of SIMI activists and maintaining constant vigil over such elements.


  • Conducted Operation Muskan and rescued (83) boys and (3) girls and handed over to their parents.


  • (484) community CCTV cameras have been installed at various places.  


  • (16) Cordon and search operations conducted (17) cases registered against which (101) persons arrested.


  • EAST ZONE:


  • Total (404) community CCTV cameras have been installed at (52) places.


  • Cordon and search operation conducted (16) times.


Conducted Operation Muskan and rescued (50) boys and (8) girls and handed over to their parents.


  • SOUTH ZONE:


  • Total (85) community CCTV cameras in South Zone.


  • Participated in Swachh Bharath program.


  • Conducted awareness program on women safety, as a part of friendly policing.


  • Free medical camps in different localities has been conducted.


  • Operation Muskan 383 children rescued and all the rescued minors were sent to rescue homes in their native districts.


  • Conducted raids on illegal financers, cordon and search for verification of SIMI activities and suspects of other states refugees, shops, Scrap Dens, Hukka and snookers centers etc, rescued (57) children who were working as child labour.


  • Conducted Chabutra Operation (236) youth taken into custody including (56) minors and conducted counseling sessions and after counseling let them off.


  • Conducted Operation Muskan and rescued (184) boys and (11) girls and handed over to their parents.


CRIME TRENDS


  1. A reduction of 14% in overall crime reported in 2015. A  comparison  of the crime for the year 2015 with that of  2014 shows that the crime rate came down significantly by 14 %  i.e.,   the number of cases registered under IPC and SLL during the year – 2015 is 18375 as compared to 21285 cases of 2014.  


  1. Decreasing in  crime rate is attributed  to measures
  • Initiation of PD Act against notorious offenders,
  • Continuously Criminal Tracking System,
  • Intensive Patrolling of Patro Cars and Blue Colts.
  • Undertaking regular cordon and search operations
  • Integrated criminal verification of known offenders (Nerasthula Samagra Survey).
  • Community CCTVs installation.


  1. 42% Reduction in property lost during the current year – 2015. The property lost during the current year is Rs.26 crores as against Rs.45 crores of previous year -2014.  
  2. 16% reduction in all property offences reported during the current year 2015.  All property cases reported during the current year-2015 is 4139 as against 5053 reported cases of previous year - 2014.
  3. 50% reduction in occurrence of chain snatching offences. During the current year – 2015 263 cases are reported as compared to 523 cases in the year 2014.  76% cases detected (199) during the current year 2015 as against 68% cases detected (356) in previous year 2014.
  4. Crime prevention and detection during the year – 2015 was good, despite the fact there is a vacancy of 33 % in Hyderabad City Police and also the fact that during the entire year City Police was very busy in L & O duties like Festivals, Public meetings, Assembly and Council Sessions.
  5. There is  a significant decrease in occurrence of Property Offences like Murder for Gain, Dacoity, HBs, Chain Snatching, Pseudo Police, Diverting Attention and Automobile


  1. CYBER CRIMES:  There is not much change in the volume and pattern in reporting of Cyber Cases has been observed. During the year 2015 (352) cases (as on date) are reported as against 392 reported in 2014 against which (154) persons were arrested, including (13) foreigners (Nigerians). Property worth Rs. 3.8 Crores has been recovered from the accused persons including amount freezed in the accused related bank accounts by Cyber Unit, which would help the victims to restore the lost amount.  For the year 2015, (198) cases have been disposed including filing charge sheets.


  1. 16 cases under the provisions of NDPS Act  were booked and 37 accused including 8 Foreigners (Nigerians) were arrested and seized 260 Kgs ganja, 1750 gms opium, 575 gms brown sugar, 10 gms charas, 203 gms of cocaine, 252 Green Pills + LSD Acid Blots.  
  2. Important Gangs were apprehended and all the sensational cases were successfully detected.
  3. Communal Peace and Harmony was maintained.

       INITIATIVES BY HYDERABAD TRAFFIC POLICE IN THE YEAR 2015
  1. Cashless traffic enforcement.


Adopting best practices world over, Hyderabad Traffic Police has initiated steps to enforce challan system in a most transparent, citizen friendly manner with accountability at all levels.  Now in Hyderabad City no police personnel is permitted to collect fine amounts for various violations in cash.  On noticing traffic violations on the streets, the traffic police enforcement officers issue a ticket to the violator and payment of same has to be done by the party in various payments gateways like eSeva, Meeseva, APOnline, ICICI, SBH, Bill desk Net Banking etc., credit and debit card swiping, all Post Offices, etc. Under any circumstances a traffic cop would collect the fine in cash. Various IT applications have been developed to ensure accountability of the collected challans through payment gateways.  Several steps have been taken by traffic police to ensure simple, hassle free and convenient mode of payment for the fines.

Even after implementation of cashless enforcement the collection of fine exceeded the last year mark and the citizens are promptly paying the fines


  1. Introduction of cop less junctions by Hyderabad traffic police.


First time in India, Hyderabad Traffic Police has initiated the Copless Junction where there will be no Traffic Cops at the Junction and commuters has to obey the Traffic Signals, failing which Non Contact enforcement will be initiated on traffic violations through Technology. During peak hours only regulation is being done and no direct enforcement work will be done by all the police officers.


  1. Focus on non contact enforcement.


All the violations on the streets are recorded through electronic surveillance like CCTV, ARLVD (Automatic Red Light Violation Detection System), etc., and equipments like Speed Laser Guns, Still/Video Cameras, Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and Tabs, etc., are available with traffic enforcement officers. More than 80% of the enforcement is done through Non Contact.


  1. Providing cameras on all towing cranes with live streaming to the command control.


Hyderabad Traffic Police has taken an initiative to fix Surveillance cameras on the existing (25) cranes in the city with live streaming in Traffic Command and Control Room. This is the first time in India where cameras are installed on towing vehicles to bring in transparency, accountability and to ensure better service to citizens.


  1. Introduction of Body Worn Cameras for all enforcement officers.


Hyderabad Traffic Police for the first time in country has introduced Body Worn Cameras (BWC) for all traffic enforcement officers. To create confidence in the citizens and to bring about socially desirable behaviour among traffic enforcement Officers and Citizens, Hyderabad Traffic Police procured BWCs for all its enforcement officers and the same are being used by all. It has brought about significant improvement in socially desirable behaviour on part of traffic enforcement officers as well as citizens at large.


  1. DRUNKEN DRIVE ENFORCEMENT:
The drive against drunken driving has drastically reduced the number of deaths as compared to previous years. The violators are convicted up to three months imprisonment and also they are fined and both also. In some of the cases, Driving Licenses have been cancelled. DD enforcement is being done duly taking image of violator and Driving License  particulars through TABs in the live Database.. Repeat violator will projected in the Charge Sheet for enhanced punishment.

  1. “HYDERABAD TRAFFIC LIVE”MOBILE APP:


As a part of Citizen Friendly and responsive Policing, Hyderabad Traffic Police launched a Mobile App " HYDERABAD TRAFFIC LIVE "  Hyderabad Traffic Live Mobile Application is a bridge between Hyderabad Traffic Police and commuters/citizens for smooth handling of traffic related operations. Till date more than 18,000 members have downloaded the APP.


Public interface:-Commuters can give information of any Violations, Complaints, Suggestions to police through the following features:-
  1. Auto Fare Estimation.2. Live Traffic, 3.Nearest Police Stations, 4. E-challan status, 5. Find your towed vehicle, 6. Find Vehicle RTA Details, 7. Public service complaint, 8.Public Information.
  1. Use of technology in Traffic Management and in Enforcement.
  2. HTRIMS-Hyderabad Traffic Integrated Management System  project of (221) traffic signals is in operation with online control from the “Traffic Command and Control Centre”(TCC). This provides Hyderabad with the latest, and totally ATCS (Automatic Traffic Control System) based, centrally monitored traffic signalling system. Vehicle Actuated Signal System reduces the Time Wastages at Signal Junctions by the assessing the traffic on each side of the junctions. Waiting Time Wastage in turn saves Idling Fuel Cost and GHG(Green House Gases) Emissions.


  1. Online information about Traffic congestions on Variable Message Boards (VMB) is being displayed for Commuters.
  2. Awareness among the various stake holders like students, road users, RTC drivers and other employees at various levels, etc.,


Traffic Education Van is being used to create the Traffic awareness for the school children.  
  • Traffic Training Park for students and other citizens has been developed where awareness is being created by regular interactions and practical guidance and also by showing Short Films on traffic awareness.
  • During this year 45,265 Students covering 213 Schools and 10 colleges; 675 RTC drivers; 2518 NCC cadets; 1325 Air force and Defence personnel; 1275 traffic violators; 13895 Drunken drivers;
  • 4586 Parents /Guardians of underage drivers were imparted counselling/ education on traffic rules by Traffic Training Institute, Goshamahal and Begumpet.
  • Pamphlets, Flexies and Banners are being distributed/installed at various locations for special events and bandobust for the public convenience.


  1. SOCIAL NETWORKS
Hyderabad Traffic Police Website is one of the most popular sites amongst the Traffic Police sites (www.htp.gov.in) and Hyderabad Traffic Police Facebook page has more than 2.2 lakhs likes is the second largest in India’s Traffic Face Book pages and visitors within a week more than one lakhs are engaged .(www.facebook.com/HYDTP)
Violators are alerted over Bulk SMS system which is tied up with National Informatic Centre (NIC). On an average 40,000 to 1.5 lakh SMSs are being sent to the violators in a Day.
      
Hyderabad City Police has also partnered with FM channels in disseminating Live Traffic updates for public convenience.


Hyderabad Traffic Police has been awarded National Award on Road Safety-2015 presented by Sri Rajavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting for introducing new initiatives and advanced technologies for the people friendly approach and for striving for the safety of commuters.


  1. The process of tender is in progress for


  • Installation of Automatic Wrong Side driving detection Cameras at various locations to curb the menace and for safety of commuters.


  • Hyderabad City-wide Integrated & Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) which is aimed at providing a universal view of traffic flows; modelling traffic flow optimization; best possible traffic routing; optimizing traffic junction signals and disseminating the traffic information, guidance, and awareness to the citizens and  road users.
