National Food Security Cards Project by Civil Supplies department of Telangana State honoured with CSI Nihilent e-Governance 2014-15 Award

The National Food Security Cards application developed by NIC (Telangana Unit) and being implemented by the Civil Supplies Department of Telangana State has been adjudged among the best projects in CSI Nihilent e-Goverance Award for 2014-15.
The National Food Security Cards (NFSC) application developed by using the State of art technology and the software is being used by Civil Supplies Department in
- digitizing the entire ration card data base;
- seeding ration card data with Aadhaar;
- generating the Dynamic Key Register;
- allocatingEssential Commodities to all eligible BPL families through FP Shops without any discretion or manual intervention;
- recording closing balances by the FP Shop dealers;
- searching of Food Security Cards by beneficiaries in the public domain,
- using the data for implementing ePoS, authentication of beneficiaries with Aadhaar dataetc.
With the initiatives of the Commissioner of Civil Supplies, about 21.13 lakh bogus units could be eliminateddue to various reasons such as dead / duplicate cards / units with Aadhaar authentication resulted in deactivation ofall such bogus units and a saving of about Rs.30.87 crores per month.
The Computer Society of India (CSI) is the largest association of information technology professionals in India, works asa catalyst in promoting e-governance in the country by way of recognition, organizing knowledge sharing summits etc. These awards will focus the worldon the initiatives being taken in e-Governance in India to the next level of efficiency in providing public services.
