Supreme Court tells Telangana to restore Andhra Jyothi news channel
The Supreme Court has asked theTelangana government to restore theAndhra Jyothi news channel, ABN News. The news channel was banned by the Telangana government, allegedly for mocking the leadership and culture in Telangana.
Andhra Jyothi managing director Vemuri Radhakrishna took on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the Supreme Court. A three-member bench consisting of Justice Khehar, Justice Kurien Joseph and Justice Madan B Lokur gave a verdict that the news channel has to be restored. They have asked the Centre and Telangana governments along with the district collectors to do the needful.
The bench further added that steps must be taken to provide protection to cable operators if required.
