PRESS NOTE          

SEIZURE OF 4.19 KGS FOREIGN MARKED GOLD BISCUITS, NET CASH OF RS 16,00,000/- LAKH INDIAN CURRENCY, 2,500 RIYALS AND 910 UAE DHIRAMS-FOUR PERSONS HELD

On credible information, Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team apprehended 4- offenders and seized Gold Biscuits wg about 4.19 Kgs and net cash of Rs 16 lakh Indian Currency, 2,500 riyals and 910 UAE Dhirams from their possession while being exchanged illegally.

Names and address Particulars of apprehended persons:-

1) Zafar Ahmed @ Zaki @ Mohd Zaki  S/o: Late Fazal Ahmed, age: 28 yrs, occ: Four wheeler broker R/o.HNo. 16-7-502, Azampura, Chadergaht, near Saifa Masjid, Hyderabad,  

2) Syed Wajeed @Wajeed S/o: Syed Abdul Sattar, age: 25 yrs, occ: Tarpaulin shop styled “Z” Tarpaulin, at Dewan Devdi, Hyderabad, R/o Back side Asiya Garden, Teegalkunta, Hyderabad,

3) Arif Ali Shaik @ Ali, S/o: Ashraf Ali Shaik, age: 40 yrs, Occ:  Airport representative at Western Hotel, R/o: H. No: 18-7-326/1/A, Kotla Alija, Mirchowk, Hyderabad and

4) Mohd Taheruddin @ Asif, S/o: Mohd Yousuf Moinuddin, age: 24 yrs, Occ: Burkha Center at Sheran Market, R/o: Back Side Yashoda Hospital, Old Malakpet, Hyderabad.

5) Mohd Feroz Khan @ Feroz, aged: 32 yrs N/o. Hasannagar, Hyderabad, presently residing at Dubai) (absconding).

SEIZED PROPERTY : -

1. 36 nos of yellow metal bars the following inscription was noticed – “ARG – UAE – 10 TOLAS – 999.0 – ARG – MELTER ASSAYER”  and it appears to be Gold bars of foreign origin.
2. Indian Currency total Rs 16,00,000/-( The total number of notes of Rs. 1000/- denomination is 570 total to Rs. 5,70,000/- and the total number of notes of Rs. 500 denomination is 2060 total to Rs. 10,30,000/-.)
3. Saudi riyals of the following denomination viz., 100 X 5 total 500 riyals; 500 X 5 total 2,500 riyals;
4. UAE Dhirams of the following denomination viz., 100 X 4 totalling 400 Dhirams; 500 X 1 total 500 Dhirams; and 10 X 1 total 10 Dhirams.

Brief facts:-

On credible information, the Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, Hyderabad nabbed the above 4-respondents and seized Foreign marked Gold Biscuits  wg about 4.19 Kgs, net cash of Rs 16 lakh Indian Currency, 2,500 riyals and 910 UAE Dhirams while being exchanged illegally.  During the course of interrogation, it is established that, the said Foreign marked Gold Biscuits are being smuggled through the carriers by International flights from Dubai to Hyderabad for marketing on higher price for earning money illegally. The accused Feroz who is residing at Dubai procures the gold and send the same to Hyderabad through the carriers for marketing.  

On receipt of the Gold from Dubai, Asif used to sell it to known customers at a discounted price for illegal gains. It is suspected that the seized Foreign marked gold bars are smuggled from Dubai to Hyderabad for selling the same for illegal gains.      

The apprehended persons and seized property is being handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation.

The above apprehensions were made under the supervision of Sri. N. Koti Reddy, Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyd., Sri. Thakur Sukhdev Singh, Inspector of Police, South Zone Task Force, and SI’s Sri. G. Mallesh,  K.Venkateshwarlu, SK Jakeer Hussain and D.Venkateshwarlu and the staff.
