4-year-old girl dies in Hyderabad school after getting stuck in elevator; three arrested
Hyderabad: A four-year-old girl died on Tuesday morning after getting stuck in Sri Chaitanya Dilsukhnagar school elevator in Hyderabad.
Nursery student, Syeda Xanaib, died after her head got stuck in the elevator door of her school. Three including the principal and teacher have been arrested.
Police officials said the girl was taking the elevator from ground floor to the third floor along with her teacher and other children at Sri Chaitanya School in Dilsuknagar area. Her head got stuck in the grill door and the elevator moved, crushing her to death.
"The girl, Sayeda Xanaib, got stuck in the school lift and died," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Zone) L T Chandra Shekar said.
However, he refused to share any further details. Senior police officers rushed to the spot and further probe was on into the incident.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased and other local residents gathered in front of the school and held a protest demanding stern action against its management.
Malakpet police booked a case against the management and few have been taken into custody for questioning. The police is also verifying if the school had permission for an elevator.
