Was raped, says woman; Hyderabad police suspect prostitution
A 27-year-old woman approached the Kamatipura police alleging that she was gang-raped by a few men on Saturday.
The Kamatipura police said it was a prostitution case, but a dispute arose over payment. When the victim's mobile was verified by police, they found several calls exchanged between a broker named Shakeel and the complainant.
The victim was reportedly picked up at Asifnagar and taken to a private office near Rama Talkies by car, where she was gang-raped. After sexually assaulting her, the culprits threatened her that they have clout and that she could be framed.
"The victim has been giving contradictory statements about the number of persons involved in the offence. At times, she claims two men were involved, while on other occasions she tells it was more than that. We have not identified the persons involved in the assault,'' Kamatipura SI K Srinivas said.
