TS Gearing up for creation of New Districts—KCR asks officials to Study the issue
The Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is presently engaged in an exercise to create new Districts in the State. Indications are that the Chief Minister is in favour of carving out at least four more districts in the State and a final shape to the proposal is expected shortly. In all probability, the new Districts will become a reality by the beginning of January 2016.
The Chief minister has issued instructions to the officials concerned to study the proposals relating to the possibility of creating four or five new Districts, keeping in view the unwieldy position of the existing districts in the State. The formation of new districts should help better administration and taking the administration near to the people, the Chief minister advised the officials.
Mr Chandrasekhar Rao is keen that the people should not feel undue inconvenience in reaching the District headquarters for getting their work done. The people should be in a position to go to the district headquarters, complete their work and return to their respective place by the sme evening, without necessitating stay at the district headquarter overnight.
There have been a number of demands for formation of new districts, since a long time now, and KCR had earlier assured the people on the creation of new districts. The Chief Minister has recently given an assurance on creation of Suryapet district by dividing Nalgonda district. There have been demands for formation of Kothagudem, Bhadrachalam, Gadwal, Mancherial, Vikarabad districts. With the assurance of the Chief Minister for creation of Suryapet districts, the demands for creation of new districts is increasing.
Reorganisation of districts has not taken place in the united Andhra Pradesh (including Telangana) since the past 37 years. Only Rangareddy District has been created in 1978 and that was the last reorganization. There has been a steep increase in the population of the State, including Telangana, but he number of districts remained the same since 1978.
