Pseudo cop robs farmer of Rs 10 lakh. .
HYDERABAD: A farmer from Shamirpet was allegedly taken for a ride and robbed of Rs 10 lakh by a youth who claimed to be a policeman near HMT Colony in Nacharam on Tuesday.
Koti Reddy, 55, a farmer from Shamirpet, was conned by a pseudo cop. On Tuesday afternoon, Reddy went to Central Bank in Aliabad, Shamirpet, and withdrew Rs 10 lakh. While he was going on his scooter to HMT Colony in Nacharam to hand over the cash to a businessman, Sravan, a bike-borne man in his thirties intercepted Reddy on the Habsiguda-HMT Colony route.
"Posing as a cop in civil dress, the miscreant frisked Reddy and made him open the scooter dickey.
No sooner did Reddy open the dickey than the offender got hold of the cash by diverting his attention and fled from the place," Nacharam inspector N Pravinder Rao said.
Based on a complaint lodged by Koti Reddy, police registered a case under section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
