PRESS NOTE
TWO INTERSTATE SNATCHING GANGS HELD- 6 ARRESTED
1 KG GOLD ORNAMENTS & 3 BIKES RECOVERED
On 02-10-2015, on credible information the Commissioner’s Task force, East & South Zone Teams along with South Zone L&O Police, apprehended two Interstate snatching gangs namely 1) Mohd Rasheed Khan, 2) Mohd Sayeed Ali @ Shaik Sayeed Ali, 3) Shaik Arshad Ali, 4) Afroz Khan & 5) Mir Ayan Ali and 6) Syed Ahmed Ali in the limits of Saidabad & Santhosh Nagar P.S.s Hyderabad., who committed (30) Chain snatchings in the limits of Hyderabad & Cyberabad Commissionerates and Medak District, and recovered about 1 KG gold ornaments & Three Bikes, from their possession.

Modus Operandi of 1st Gang: -
The accused Rasheed Khan, Mohd Sayeed Ali, Shaik Arshad Ali and Afroz Khan are relatives residing in Aurangabad and Hyderabad. They used Bajaj Pulsar 150 cc and 180 cc bikes in commission of snatching offences. They mostly select ladies walking in lanes and by lanes in isolated places, and target the victims from behind and in opposite directions. The accused drives the bike in very high speed and slows the bike near the victim and snatches the gold ornaments from victims with single hand and escape from the scene on a high speed. After committing offences they used to go to Aurangabad of Maharashtra State. After some days they come back to Hyderabad and commit snatchings again. So far they have committed (19) snatching cases in the limits of Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerates.
Modus Operandi of 2nd Gang: -
The prime accused Mir Ayan Ali @ Ayan is native of Maharashtra. In the year 2011, he was involved in a theft case of Saidabad and remanded to Chanchalguda Jail, where he met with another accused Syed Ahmed Ali who was in Jail in a Robbery case of Bowenpally P.S. and they became friends. After release from Jail, as their meager earnings are insufficient for their lavish expenses, then they hatched plan to commit snatching of gold chains from the neck of lonely ladies. About 4 months back Ayan purchased one Apache motor bike and they both started chain snatchings in isolated areas from the neck of the lonely ladies. So far they have committed (11) snatching cases in the limits of Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerates.
The arrested accused along with seized property are being handed over to SHOs, Saidabad PS, and Santhosh Nagar for taking further action against them.
The above arrests were made under the supervision of Sri. V. Satyanarayana, I.P.S., D.C.P., South Zone, Sri N. Koti Reddy, Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, by Sri CH. Sridhar & Sri.Thakur Sukhdev Singh, Inspectors of Police, East & South Zone Task Force, and the staff of East & South Zone Task Force Team, Hyderabad City along with South Zone L&O Police.
Action Plan:
Repeat professional offenders involving in large number of chain snatchings will be booked under PD Act since they have been creating panic in the women who constitute 50% population and thereby preventing them from free movement on the streets. This is affecting the safety and security of women at large and thereby affecting the public order. So far (46) Chain Snatchers have been detained under PD Act.
