Modi and Fadnavis are champions of Dalit cause, says RPI chief
The Republican Party of India (RPI) chief Ramdas Athavale on Sunday described Prime Minister Narendra
Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as true champions of the Dalit cause for taking up the cause of Dr B R Ambedkar, and laying the foundation of a memorial in his name.
Ramdas Athavale were among those present at Indu Mills compound in Dadar, where Modi laid the foundation stone of the Ambedkar Memorial.
Athavale, clad in a saffron and blue attire to display social engineering of Sangha Shakri and Bhim Shakti, said, “We supported the Congress for the past six decades. But they failed to pay heed to our demand for the Ambedkar Memorial, and it is unfortunate. The Modi-Fadnavis government, on the other hand, took up the cause in exactly one year.”
He demanded that a statue of Gautam Buddha should be installed in the Parliament premises. Referring to Modi’s foreign tours, he said, “I know when ever you have gone abroad you evoke teachings of Gautam Buddha. I am glad.”
