Beef politics: Activist Rahul Easwar attacked in Kerala
In the latest such conflagration, activist Rahul Easwar was attacked in Alapuzha over his remarks on cow slaughter.
There is no letdown as far as politics over beef, often turning violent, is concerned. In the latest such conflagration, activist Rahul Easwar was attacked in Alapuzha over his remarks on cow slaughter.
The incident was reported from an event at Milad-e-Sharief Memorial College in Alapuzha where Easwar was invited as a guest speaker on cyber security.
As he went towards his car after his address, a group of people, comprising students and possibly outsiders, smashed his car and shouted slogans against him, asking him to take his comments on beef back.
Easwar later tweeted, "I am shocked and scared...can one not live in Kerala without supporting Beef Festival??" Another tweet with a photo of his damaged car read: "Attack on me & Car got smashed...raising slogans for Beef Festival in Kerala. DYSP Police registers FIR."
Activists in Kerala were the first to react to the lynching of Mohammed Akhlaq in Uttar Pradesh's Dadri last week, where they held a public beef party at several places in the state.
Earlier on Thursday, a Jammu and Kashmir lawmaker was thrashed by BJP MLAs inside the state Assembly for holding a beef party in Srinagar on Wednesday.
