As per law, Medicines supplied to Govt hospitals, Health Centres etc are to be given to patients by Govt. doctors in these health centres. They cannot be sold in the market by Chemists/Druggists.
Similarly Physician Samples are those which should be give by a doctor to the patient and are not for sale.
A State wide inspection of various premises was undertaken to curb the malpractice of Sale of Govt. Supply Medicines & Physician Samples.
Medicines to the extent of Rs 24.18 lakhs were seized across the state. The area wise figures are as follows:
Greater Hyderabad: 3 cases ; 285 varieties of medicines ; Rs. 4.16 lakhs
Karimnagar: 2 Cases: 23 varieties ; Rs. 1.2 lakhs
Nalgonda; 3 Cases; 255 varieties; Rs. 18.82 lakhs
Legal Action:
8 cases under Sec 18 (a) r/w Rule 65 (18) of Drugs & Cosmetics Act
Seizure of stock and deposit in concerned court
