What is Digital Marketing :Digital marketing is an umbrella term for themarketing of products or services using digitaltechnologies, mainly on the Internet, but also including mobile phones, display advertising, and any otherdigital medium.

In a competitive business environment, customer engagement is not only essential but also challenging.  Due to advent of information technology retailers are shifting from a linear marketing approach of one-way communication to a value exchange model in which there is a two-way mutual dialogue and benefit-sharing between provider and consumer. The spread of information and awareness can occur across numerous channels such as the blogosphere, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, and a wide variety of other platforms. Online communities and social networks allow individuals to easily become creators of their own content and publicly publish their opinions, experiences, thoughts and feelings about many topics and products, hyper-accelerating the diffusion of information.

There are a number of ways brands can use digital marketing to benefit their marketing efforts. The use of digital marketing in the digital era not only allows for brands to market their products and services but also allows for online customer support through 24/7 services to make customer feel supported and valued. The use of social media interaction allows brands to receive both positive and negative feedback from their customers as well as determining what media platforms work well for them and has become an increased advantage for brands and businesses. It is now common for consumers to post feedback online through social media sources, blogs and websites feedback on their experience with a product or brand. It has become increasingly popular for businesses to utilize and encourage these conversations through their social media channels to have direct contact with the customers and manage the feedback they receive appropriately.

It is at this stage that mediators act as bridge between the customer and the manufacturers or service provides.  They are also various players who play their role in this connection like the internet provider gives platform for the uploading of the data pertaining to customers as well as manufacturers and service providers.

General procedure of Digital Marketing :When any manufacturer or service provider wants to market his product or service on digital marketing, he will give his profile to advertisement agencies who will prepare data bank.  Now the actual Digital Marketing agents called the Affiliated networks will approach those agencies and share the links of the manufacturers or service providers.  This means that the advertising agency has sold or rented the links of its clientele to the Affiliated networks.  Then the Affiliated networks will further share the clientele links to their publishers (agents).  The publishers also collect the phone numbers and emails ID of general public from the agents or cellphone service providers.  After this they will start doing marketing of the manufacturers or service providers who are there on their data network by referring to the phone numbers and email IDs of general public which they collected from the agents or cellphone service providers.

Monetary benefit to Affiliated networks and their Publishers: When the manufacturers or service providers want to have their product or service to be digitally marketed, they will fix a price ranging from Rs.5 to Rs.100/- for every successful campaign.  The amount will be shared between the Affiliated networks and the publishers as agreed by them.

Fraud done by Affiliated networks and their Publishers: During regular process the Affiliated networks are supposed to collect the phone numbers and email IDs of general public and do the digital marketing but in contrast the Affiliated networks purchase huge number of SIM cards from the agents of cellular service provides and get them activated with fake IDs and feed these numbers to the manufacturers and the service providers.  Then they insert such SIM cards in cellphones and when the manufacturers and the service providers call for marketing they attend the call posing as customers.  When the call is attended the money fixed by the manufacturer or service provider is automatically credited to the Affiliated network account which is shared by the Affiliated network and the Publisher as per the agreed terms.
