KCR is indifferent, insensitive, and inhuman: Uttam

Hyderabad, October 10: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has described Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao as indifferent, insensitive and inhuman to farmers.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Uttam Kumar Reddy strongly condemned personal remarks made by the Chief Minister against him and said that KCR was upset over Congress party which exposed his nexus with contractors. "The language and tone used by KCR does not match the stature of a Chief Minister. He must be ashamed of himself for targeting the Congress party which repeatedly nailed his lies," he said.

"Telangana's budget for 2016-17 is of Rs. 1.30 lakh. Even if we assume that the government would be spending Rs. 1 lakh this fiscal, then during the last six months, it must have spent Rs. 50,000 Crore. It is strange that the Chief Minister was uanble to arrange about Rs. 8,000 Crore to clear crop loan waiver dues, Rs. 2,000 Crore towards fee reimbursement dues and he had no money to clear small payments pertaining to Mid-day Meal scheme. Entire money is being spent on contractors to get commissions in return. You are approaching all banks to borrow funds for Water Grid project. But you never gave a thought of taking out farmers from the debt net," said Uttam Kumar Reddy.

The TPCC chief asked as to why KCR was not willing to watch reality. "You remained indifferent to farmers and totally neglected them despite them losing four consecutive farmers. Now you want to enter celebration mode by forgetting the fact nearly 4,000 farmers across Telangana committed suicide since TRS Government took over. You are acting against humanity," he said adding that KCR should stop acting in an arrogant manner. He said KCR's got Chief Minister's post due to Congress party which granted statehood for Telangana. He said that the Chief Minister's only concern was contractors of irrigation and Water Grid projects.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party would continue to highlight the problems being faced by the people, especially farmers. He said that the Congress party gave Telangana and it was duty of all Congress workers to ensure well being of all its citizens. He said KCR's intimidating tactics would not prevent the Congress from raising people's issues. He said people of Telangana were witnessing the arrogance of KCR and they would teach him a fitting lesson at an appropriate time. "We haven't seen the rule of Mohammed Bin Tughlaq. But after watching KCR, we understood how he would have had rule his kingdom," he said.

The TPCC chief said that the Congress party would launch mass contact programme in all the districts of Telangana. He said that the enumeration of crops damaged due to recent rains was on and the local Congress leaders would submit representations to Tehsildars and District Collectors concerned. Further, he said that the Congress workers would approach over 40 lakh farmers through "Application Campaign" seeking immediate clearance of crop loan waiver dues. Similarly, nearly 14 lakh students would be approached making them sign the petition for payment of Fee Reimbursement dues.

Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that the Congress would not rest unless the State Government clear crop loan waiver dues in single take, pay entire dues of Fee Reimbursement scheme, clear dues of Aarogyasri Scheme and Mid-Day meal scheme and implement other promise including loans and lands to SC, ST, BC communities. He also ridiculed KCR's remarks on districts' reorganisation and said that the Chief Minister was creating confusion among masses on the issue. He said if the exercise was started last year and a committee headed by the Chief Secretary was constituted, then where the committee's report.

Jana Reddy, Leader of Opposition in Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, ex-PCC Chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC Vice-President Dr. Mallu Ravi, ex-MP V.
