Boycott questionnaire
on Uniform Civil Code: TMS
Hyderabad, October
13: Tehreek Muslim Shabban has announced its full support to the All India
Muslim Personal Law Board's call for boycott of Law Commission's questionnaire
on Uniform Civil Code.
In a media statement, TMS president Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik
said that the AIMPLB had taken a correct and timely decision on boycotting the
questionnaire. He said that the BJP-led led NDA Government has been trying to
introduce Uniform Civil Code for political gains. He said that the Muslims
would never tolerate any interference in the Shariyat or Personal Law and the
same would be conveyed to the Central Government through Tahafuz-e-Shariyat
Conference being held in Hyderabad on November 13.
Mushtaq Mallik informed that several national leaders,
belonging to different religious, social and political organisations, will
participate in the Tahafuz-e-Shariyat Conference at Exhibition Grounds on
November 13. As a prelude, a consultative session of Muslims MPs, MLAs and
intellectuals, is being held in Hyderabad on October 22. The session would be
presided by Siasat Urdu Daily Editor-in-Chief Zahed Ali Khan. "We are
expecting huge participation in the conference from neighbouring Andhra
Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Nearly one lakh people from all districts
of Telangana and other neighbouring States will also attend the
conference," he informed.
The TMS president said public meetings were being held
across the four States on Tahafuz-e-Shariyat. The first meeting will be held in
Bidar district of Karnataka on October 16. He said representatives of TMS,
Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiatul Ulema, Jamiatul Mashaiqeen and other religious and
political leaders would address the meeting in Bidar. Similarly, many events
have been lined up as a run-up to the main conference on Tahafuz-e-Shariyat.
Mushtaq Mallik said that the TMS would carry forward the All
India Muslim Personal Law Board's message on boycotting Law Commission's
questionnaire. (eom)
