Conman held; jewellery worth Rs 4 lakh seized. ..

Hyderabad police on Monday arrested a conman and seized gold jewellery weighing nearly 14 tolas, worth Rs 4 lakh, from his possession.

The accused, Palli Babu Rao (51), a resident of Rahmath Nagar in Yousufguda, is involved in trading of sheep and goats. Explaining the modus operandi, police said that the accused would lure aged women by promising them easy loans and also give donations to the poor to gain the victim’s confidence.

The accused would take them to a lonely place on his motorcycle and rob them of their gold jewellery and other valuables by diverting their attention.

Police said Babu Rao was involved in as many as 110 criminal cases.  He began to commit crimes since 1995 by adopting the same modus operandi.

He was arrested by Mahankali Police. He was also convicted in several cases.

After being released from jail, he again started committing theft in the limits of Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates.The Chikkadpally ACP appealed to the public not to be carried away by the claims of such people. Dwnews He urged the people to inform the nearest police station or dial 100 if theycome across such elements. He urged the people to educate the aged persons in their families about such crimes. Dwnews The police invoked the PD Act against the accused considering his 20-year tryst with crimes.
