Dr G. Sanjeeva Reddy was re-elected..........

Dr G. Sanjeeva Reddy was re-elected unanimously as the president of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state for another tenure of three years.
He was elected in the 18th INTUC Triennial Delegates Conference of AP and TS  held in Hyderabad. Thanking the delegates for his re-election and for reposing confidence in him, Dr Reddy said INTUC will never compromise on the welfare of working class and will intensify the agitation against the anti-worker policies of the NDA government.

He alleged that the NDA government, in the name of ‘Make in India’ scheme to attract foreign direct investments, is changing all labour laws and harming the interests of working class.

Dr Reddy said that the NDA government has been pushing for disinvestment of public sector undertakings, privatising Indian Railways in the name of public private participation and inviting FDI in insurance and defence sectors.

He termed these initiatives as ‘retrograde steps’ which are not acceptable to the working class. He demanded the Centre to approve the 12 justifiable demands of all unions, which include Rs 15,000 per month minimum wages, regularising contract labour doing regular work, stopping disinvestment of profit-making PSUs, strict implementation of existing labour laws, registering new unions within 45 days and controlling rising prices of essential commodities, goods and services.
