Authorities ask drivers to make 2016 safest year
Hyderabad, January 2: The authorities urged cabs drivers to make 2016 the safest year in terms of women safety and accidents. The drivers, especially those working with the IT industry were asked to remain alert and act responsibly in realising the dream of turning Hyderabad into the safest city in the world.
Addressing the 8th Training and Appraisal Session organised by Telangana State Cabs and Bus Operators Association (TSCBOA) in collaboration with Cyberabad Police Commissionerate and Cyberabad Society for Security Council at Infosys Campus in Pocharam here on Saturday morning, the experts expressed satisfaction over the outcome of training programmes held so far for drivers.
Assistance Commissioner of Police (LB Nagar) Sridhar Reddy, Traffic Training Institute Inspector Shankar, CSSC (Traffic Forum) Head Krishna Yedula and TSCBOA President Syed Nizamuddin were among those who addressed the training session. They asked drivers to maintain discipline while on or off-the roads. They reiterated that the cab drivers were the brand ambassadors of Hyderabad and they could impress the visiting guests with the good behaviour.
The drivers were given a Power Point presentation on defensive driving. They were also shown various clips on women's safety and traffic rules.
Of nearly 40,000 cab drivers working with IT companies, so far, about 10,000 drivers have been trained through eight sessions held in various IT companies. The first training session was held on February 7, 2015. Training sessions for remaining drivers will also be organised in a phased manner, informed Syed Nizamuddin.
The drivers were also administered oath that they will not only ensure women’s safety but also create awareness among others on this sensitive issue.
