Hyderabad, December
2: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar
Reddy has described the first half of TRS Government's term as totally
disappointing and a setback for the new State of Telangana.
Addressing a press conference along with other senior
leaders at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress
party granted statehood for Telangana to fulfill people's aspirations and bring
prosperity. However, with its mis-administration and mis-governance, the TRS Government
has pushed Telangana backward by many decades. He said no section of the
society was happy with the performance of TRS Government. He said that the TRS
Government failed to fulfill even a single promise that it made with the people
during 2014 General Elections.
Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the TRS Government has pushed
Telangana into huge debts due to its economic mis-management. He slammed the
government for not clearing the dues of crop loan waiver scheme, Fee
Reimbursement, Indiramma Housing and other welfare schemes. He said Chief
Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao failed to identify and address the priority areas
and focussed on glorification of image of himself and his family members. He
said instead of constructing weaker section houses of few hundred sft on 100 sq
yards of land, the Chief Minister constructed a palatial bungalow of one lakh
sft for himself on 9 acres of land. He asked KCR to clarify whether
construction of new CM’s residence was so essential. He accused the Chief
Minister of living a lavish lifestyle using public money.
Stating the there was huge resentment among the people
towards TRS Government, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that KCR had spent last
two-and-a-half years in buying out legislators of opposition parties. He said
KCR's primary focus in the first half of his term was defections and not
development.
Speaking about farmers, the Congress leader said that the
State Government has failed to address the problems being faced by farmers. By
not clearing the crop loan waiver dues, the TRS Government kept over 40 lakh
farmer families hooked to their debts. He said the number of suicides reported
in Telangana during TRS rule was highest since independence.
Commenting on slained gangster Nayeem's case, Uttam Kumar
Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister was trying to hush up the case as clear
evidences of Nayeem's nexus with a senior politician and a police office were
found during investigation. He said that KCR was trying to shield the
criminal-police-politician nexus. He reiterated the demand for a CBI enquiry
into Nayeem's cases.
He also alleged that KCR had entered into a secret pact with
his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N. Chandrababu Naidu to hush up the "Cash
for Vote" scam.
Uttam Kumar Reddy informed that the birthday of Congress
president Sonia Gandhi on December 9 will be celebrated across the State as “Telangana
Thanksgiving Day” as it also coincides with the announcement of statehood for Telangana.
He said that the Congress party would organise a massive dharna at Indira Park
on December 20 to highlight the failures of TRS Government.
Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali
Shabbir, TPCC Vice-Presidents Mallu Ravi and Ponnam Prabhakar, ex-minister
Danam Nagender, ex-Vice-Chairman of NDMA Marri Sashidhar Reddy and other senior
leaders were also present in the press conference.
